Love Story: The Real Ross & Rachel

When I added Event Planning to Kase Styles, I hosted a giveaway on Facebook. I asked couples to write in and tell me their love stories, tell me about what help they needed for their wedding, and the winner would receive my services for free!

Amy wrote in and I am so glad she did! Her story reminded me of Ross + Rachel from friends (and if you know me at all you know I constantly reference that show!) I absolutely fell in love with her and her soon to be husband's love story! She won the giveaway and I am so excited to help bring her love story to life.

Hello Kasey!

My name is Amy and my fiancé, Brandon and I are planning our wedding for August 19, 2017. I first learned of your Wedding Planner Giveaway through a friend and after looking through your website, I knew that I had to apply! Your style is so beautiful, romantic and organic and I would absolutely love the opportunity to work with you to plan our wedding!

Our Love Story

Brandon and I have a rather nontraditional love story. One that is filled with plenty of heart jumping surprises along the way! So let me begin…

We met in 2010 when we were both working for the same company in Oshkosh. Our desks happened to be right next to each other. Brandon is one of the happiest and most down-to-earth people I have ever met. He is also an extremely loud talker! It’s one of the things I love the most about him as it constantly makes me laugh. However, it literally drove me crazy at the time!

Despite that initial annoyance, Brandon and I became close friends over the year we worked together. He was dating someone at the time and was my sounding board and shoulder to cry on during a year of so many highs and lows in my life. If he hadn’t been there that year, I don’t know what I would have done!

At the end of the year, Brandon was offered a job in Milwaukee. After he left, we sort of lost touch. Coincidently, my sister and her husband were also living in Milwaukee at the time (although they had no idea who Brandon was). One day my sister called to tell me that while at a friend’s party, she and her husband had met someone I used to work with. It turns out it was Brandon and the three of them ending up becoming friends!

Brandon and I continued to lead our separate lives over the next couple of years. However, our paths would occasionally cross due to his friendship with my sister and her husband. Brandon moved back to Oshkosh in 2013, followed by my sister and her husband the following year. With all three of them living back in Oshkosh, I found myself running into Brandon often. We both had gone through recent breakups and at the beginning of that summer (with a little bit of pushing from my sister) we agreed to go out on a “date”.

I had been through some horrible relationships in the past and at that time, I had really lost all hope of finding someone. I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun we had on our date and how much he made me laugh. But I couldn’t decide whether that was because I was catching up with an old friend or if there really was something more between us.

We dated off and on throughout the rest of that summer and fall, but I felt like we were both at different places in our lives. As a result, we decided to end our relationship. After a month apart, I was extremely surprised to learn that I was expecting! You read it right, I was pregnant. I had always known I wanted to be a mom, but was terrified at the same time because this was not how I pictured my life playing out. I loved Brandon very much as a person, but I didn’t think I could picture us together.

We felt strongly that it was important we remain friends, work together as best as we could, and do what was right for our daughter. Throughout everything, EVERYTHING, Brandon was there for me. I knew he would be a wonderful dad and someday a great husband – just not mine. We agreed that Brandon would move in with me a month before my due date and that we would live together for six months after our daughter was

born. At that time he would move out and we would share custody while remaining friends. Our family and friends supported our decision completely, but I always knew they secretly hoped things could be different.

Our daughter, Ava Rose, was born June 23rd, 2015 at 11:59pm and our lives were changed forever. The quote, “I never knew how much I loved your daddy until I saw how much he loved you” is literally true for us. I fell completely in love with Brandon in the weeks after Ava was born. I saw him in an entirely new light and realized that I was the happiest I had ever been in my whole life. I finally felt at peace and could not imagine my life without him in it.

I was nervous to tell him how I felt in fear that he would not feel the same after everything we had been through. After a month of waiting, I couldn’t wait any longer and finally got the courage to share my feelings for him. We have been together as a couple ever since. Brandon is the most loving, caring, thoughtful, hilarious and most of all PATIENT man I know. Almost a year later on April 14, 2016, on top of an observation tower at Blue Mound State Park, he asked me to marry him!

We may not be living our lives in the typical “order”, but I am living the fairy tale I have always dreamt of. I thank God every single day for bringing Ava into our lives. She has brought so much love and happiness with her and I cannot thank Him enough. I am so grateful for Brandon’s patience and unwavering support since the first day we met. Our love story has taught me that life doesn’t always go as planned. But that is what makes it so perfect! I am so excited to finally be marrying the love of my life and am excited to be able to share the day with our beautiful daughter, family and friends!

Why We Would Love the Assistance of a Wedding Planner

I have always dreamed about my wedding day! I have a picture in my head of that day and can’t wait for it to finally be here. So far we’ve booked our venues and photographer AND… I just bought my dress a couple of weeks ago! Our ceremony will be held at Givens Farm in Hortonville, Wisconsin. We are crossing our fingers and praying the weather cooperates to have an intimate ceremony on a stunning and rustic bridge they have on their property. The reception will be held at the UW Oshkosh Alumni Welcome + Conference Center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Our amazing photographer, Laurelyn Savannah Photography, was recommended to us by a friend (the same friend that mentioned your giveaway!) and we are so in love with her timeless, natural style.

Now that we have gotten this far in the planning process, I am feeling a bit stuck. I have so many ideas in my head and pinned to my Pinterest board but I don’t know how to make it all come to life. I would absolutely love the assistance of a wedding planner to help us figure out, create, and bring those details to life in a cohesive way for us and our guests to enjoy!

Most importantly and more than anything, I want this day to be about Brandon, Ava and I officially becoming a family. While I know that not everything will go 100% as planned, I worry about all of the pieces that will need to come together for our big day. I also know I won’t be able to be everywhere at once! I would love to have your assistance as a wedding planner and stylist to be my second pair of hands so I can truly be present in the moment with Brandon and Ava and completely enjoy the day.

Thank you so much for your consideration and for listening to our untraditional love story that we cherish dearly. We hope it touches your heart and we hope to hear from you soon!
