The Fireside Cocktail

What sounds more like a fall drink than a 'Fireside Cocktail'? At the risk of sounding like an alcoholic, I do appreciate a good adult beverage. My go to drink is a Ginger ale and Jameson, but sometimes you have to spice it up! I am a whiskey fan, however I am sure you could substitute the whiskey with vodka and it would still be incredible.  I found this amazing looking cocktail on Pinterest, (you can find the full recipe here) and recruited my dear friend Anne to help me make it. If there is one thing I am not great at, as I have mentioned before, it’s cooking. This wasn’t really “cooking” but making simple syrup was involved, and even though it says “simple” I wasn’t too sure. Simple syrup is literally one part water to one part sugar simmered on the stove. It was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be and completely worth it. Fire Side Garnish

Apple Cider

Ginger Beer

Harper and Drink Cart

Harper was even curious what we were up to! :-)

You top it off with ginger beer. As you can see I am quite the fan!

Orange Peel Garnish

Instead of using Star Anise we used orange peel for the garnish.

Andi Stempniak (the photographer of these great images) even got in on the fun!

In the shaker:

2 oz. of Jameson

1/2 oz. of Maple Syrup

1-2 Drops of Bitters

3 oz. of Apple Cider

1/2 oz. of Ginger Simple Syrup

Shake it!

Top it with Ginger Beer.
