Anna + mike’s hinterland wedding

Planning a wedding in Wisconsin while living in Texas is a difficult task. But with our help, this couple pulled it off to perfection.

We started working with Anna + Mike over a year before their big day to get all the details just right!  With the couple living in Texas and Kase Styles working out of Wisconsin, we stayed connected with them using our Full Service planning documents and scheduled Skype calls, as well as meeting with Anna’s mother in the Green Bay Area.  It was very important to the two of them for their families and guests to have a fun and relaxing day and that was at the heart of everything we planned.  Anna has incredible taste and clear vision and it was exciting to see all the pieces come together just right.

Their wedding was classic and understated and absolutely perfect!  Anna and her family were planning on taking on the task of doing florals for the wedding, but while working together on the design and aesthetic they decided to hire us to do this as well!  Anna wanted classic white peonies for the bouquets, and an early June wedding was the perfect season for these to bloom.  The couple had a beautiful ceremony at St. John the Evangelist in Green Bay followed by cocktails, dinner, and dancing at Green Bay’s newly built Hinterland Brewery in the developing Tiletown district.  Anna’s brother worked at the brewery at the time and they were marvelous hosts for the day!  The white pine tables were adorned with eucalyptus garland and bud vases with our favorite combination of white ranunculus, roses, anemone, astilbe, and scabiosa.  The varying wood textures, cement, and metal accents throughout the space were the perfect backdrop to Anna + Mike’s bright white, dusty blue, and navy color palette.  The beer and food all made by Hinterland were elevated and unique, highlighting all of the specialties the Midwest and local vendors have to offer.

We love the ways the couples we work with find ways to add their personality throughout the day.  Anna + Mike’s grand entrance was so fun and so them.  The couple danced through their guests from the upstairs dining space and bar down to the main dining room and bar where they then grabbed the mic and introduced their wedding party with kind words and funny stories as they too made their way through the party.  Although it was a windy day, we were able to open some of the patio doors during the evening to have a nice flow between the outdoor patio, dining room, and dance floor.  The couple opted for doughnuts instead of cake and served fried chicken as their late-night snack - both obviously a HUGE hit!

We love reminiscing about this wedding - it reminds us that no matter where you live: Houston, Green Bay, New York, or Seattle, home is wherever you are with the one you love most.
